Treatment
The treatment for herpangina is supportive. Pain and fever control with acetaminophen or ibuprofen, as well as adequate hydration, are the mainstays of treatment. To help numb the painful mouth sores, patients should rinse often with cool water, or the provider may prescribe a liquid to swish and spit.
