Description Periorbital celluli...
Description
Periorbital cellulitis is an infection of the eyelid or skin surrounding the eye. (This is different from "orbital cellulitis" which is infection of the muscles and fat of the eye socket.) Periorbital cellulitis is more common in children and frequently occurs from a minor scratch or injury to the skin around the eye.
Symptoms
Redness, swelling and increased warmth of the eyelid and the surrounding area. A fever is often present. Unlike orbital cellulitis periorbital cellulitis does not cause the eyeball to protrude (proptosis) or limit its movements.
