Description
An overuse injury seen in children causing pain and tenderness just below the knee in the front of the lower leg. It is more common in 11-14 year old children, especially boys. The patellar (knee cap) tendon repeatedly and forcibly straightening the knee leads to swelling and tenderness in the tibial bone (shinbone).
