Pain, swelling, redness, increased warmth.

A history and physical exam will be performed. Depending on the history an x-ray and/or CT scan may be done.

CT Scan, X-ray

Treatment

Depends on the cause of the swelling but may include: Acetaminophen (Tylenol), nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications/NSAIDs (ibuprofen/Motrin or Advil, naproxen/Naprosyn or Aleve), other anti-inflammatory medications, and/or antibiotics.
